Guy de Chalus
Musician/Composer
Guy de Chalus is the Director of Music at St. Paul’s Episcopal School, and has served as a guest or resident artist at festivals and conservatories around the world. He studied to be a core curriculum teacher in NYC and has been working in the classroom on and off for 21 years. He has also pursued the study of multiple musical instruments and has a graduate degree in Ethnomusicology (ABT).
Guy's current interests revolve around community building, and cultural awareness of the legacy of African Diaspora cultures found throughout the world.
Guy has devoted almost half of his life to the preservation of the traditional folk music of Haiti as well as the musics of other parts of the Caribbean. He speaks Kreyol (Haitian), a language he learned while serving the Haitian community in NYC.
